The first official Fightland trailer is finally here. Fightland officially debuts on Starz on July 31st. Executive produced by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, the series follows Duke Kilroy, a disgraced former boxing champion who is out of prison after eight years and looking for absolute vengeance against the people who set him up.
If you were worried this sneak peek would spoil the entire plot, take a deep breath.
Why This First ‘Fightland’ Trailer Gets It Right
Seriously, is there anything worse than a movie or TV trailer that gives away the entire plot in two minutes? You sit there watching it think, “Well, great. Now I don’t even need to watch the actual show.”
Thankfully, the team behind this teaser understood the assignment. It gives us just enough to build massive momentum while leaving us desperately wanting more.
The highlight of the footage? We hear the brilliant Nicholas Pinnock, who plays Kingsley Marshall, drop a line that sets the entire tone for the series:
“Boxing is a criminal enterprise, always has been and always will be!”
Listen, as someone who has lost some highly questionable sports bets in my lifetime, I felt that line in my soul. He isn’t lying.
Redemption, Betrayal, and Brutal Ambition
If you missed our previous breakdown of the announcement, here is the quick recap. This show isn’t just about people punching each other in the face for a belt. It’s a gritty story of redemption, betrayal, and brutal ambition—both inside and outside the ropes.
Our main guy, Duke Kilroy, is a former champ who just wasted eight years of his life behind bars. He’s angry, he’s focused, and he wants blood. With 50 Cent steering the ship, you already know the drama is going to be dialed up to an eleven.
50 Cent Claims This Tops ‘Power’
50 Cent hasn’t exactly been modest about this project on social media. In fact, he’s hyping it up like it’s the fight of the century.
Taking to Instagram, 50 told fans, “This sh!t is so official, I can’t wait for you to see Fightland.”
But he didn’t stop there. He went on to claim that this is his best work yet. For context, he explicitly said that compared to his mega-hits like Power and For Life, this new show is “killing all that sh!t.”
Those are massive words considering how Power basically carried premium cable on its back for years. But judging from the raw energy packed into this brief Fightland trailer, 50 might actually have another certifiable masterpiece on his hands.
July 31st can’t come soon enough. Grab your popcorn.
