Remy Ma is known for hard-hitting bars, razor-sharp punchlines, and one of the most recognizable flows in hip hop. Now, the “Ante Up” rapper is stepping deeper into acting with a brand-new Lifetime thriller titled Don’t Trust the Girls Upstairs.
The drama follows Ashley Preston, played by Remy Ma, whose life begins falling apart after the death of her sister. Trying to do the right thing, Ashley opens her home to her orphaned teenage niece Serena. At first, it feels like an act of love and family responsibility. However, things quickly spiral when a string of disturbing incidents starts happening inside the house.
As tensions rise, Ashley begins questioning everyone around her. Is Serena acting out because of grief? Or could Ashley’s own daughter Luna, who has a troubled history of her own, be hiding something darker? Eventually, the situation becomes so chaotic that Ashley realizes she truly can’t trust the girls upstairs.
The movie also stars Garfield Wilson as Elliott, Ashley’s supportive husband, while Aliyah Marc plays Serena, the grieving niece at the center of the mystery.

Based on bestselling author Liv Constantine’s novel My Sister’s Daughter, the film leans into psychological tension, family trauma, and the kind of paranoia that makes Lifetime thrillers impossible to turn off once they start rolling.
For Remy Ma, this feels like another strong step in expanding her career beyond music. She already proved she could command attention on screen in previous acting roles, but this project gives her the opportunity to carry an entire thriller as the lead. Honestly, the premise sounds messy in the best possible way. Family secrets, grief, suspicion, and a house full of tension? That’s prime Lifetime movie territory.
Don’t Trust the Girls Upstairs premieres Saturday, June 20 at 8/7c on Lifetime.
